Whenever we find some contamination in our oil, our first reaction is that we have to change the lubricant, and we do it, and we change it, and put new oil. But what about the quality of the oil we are now pumping to the ground? For oil check contact Minimac on: +91 7030901266

Lubricants are being marketed/ sold in two formats, viz, bulk tankers and packed form (steel drums/plastic drums/cans). Both of these alternatives are also susceptible to lubricant breakdown during storage. So, let’s learn how to keep fresh content in stock.

1. Product labelling: This is also important to ensure no cross-contamination or old stock of lubricants. The label should state that it contains Units Per Units must appear on the label as follows:

  • The cap on my date bucket has been opened.
  • Date & Where the drum was procured, etc.
  • Product name
  • Inventory code
  • Storage location
  • Min & max inventory levels

2. Inventory management: It is important that the minimum and maximum levels of the lubricant be established to manage the ordering of the oils to avoid their degradation

3. Product usage:We recommend lubricants be used in the order they are purchased (i.e, FIFO - First In, First Out).

But despite following all the above steps, it is found that at times, there is water ingress into sealed oil drums either because of recurring temperature changes/overnighting of rain water on the top portion of the drums, sometimes rust particle contamination because of the use of a recycled drum by the seller. To prevent this, even new oil must be filtered down to a cleanliness code 14/13/11 according to ISO 4406 to protect equipment life. If you are beginning this practice at this point, then we recommend you flush your system so you can remove any varnish/contaminant residue still left in your system.

And we at Minimac Systems Pvt Ltd service you not only with the preventive maintenance of lubrication oil but also provide you with a variety of OIL PURIFICATION SYSTEMS & FLUSHING SYSTEMS. Minimac means Minimum Machinery Maintenance. Click Here.
