India is the third largest producer of power in the world after China and the USA, with the production level of 373,029.35 MW as of now. To cater to the massive population of India. Now, for a peek into the power generation industry in India.

Thermal power Thermal power accounts for 62 per cent of the total power generation.

23.9% comes from Renewable Energy sources like Wind, Solar, etc.

12.3% is generated from Hydro Energy & 1.8% is generated from Nuclear Energy.

To meet the growing market demand, the power generation demand is increasing day by day. Electricity demand in India has more than doubled over the last decade, from 199,877 MW at the close of the 11th Five-Year Plan (2012) to 373,029 MW in 2020.

Sustainable development: It is very important for the industry that runs 24X7.

To fulfill the demand of the market, it is necessary to keep the machinery healthy, and for healthy machinery, the selection of the right lubricants is a must

Government vs Private... Power Generation Battle!

The government companies in India hold most of the power generation. National Thermal Power Corporation Limited (NTPC), National Hydropower Generation Company (NHPC), and North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited (NEEPCO) are the major central (and state) owned govt plants. Prince Planet has a 53% share in GOVT-owned plants (47% to the private sector).

Meanwhile, in power generation, it is the country's private players, including Adani Power, Tata Power, and JSW Energy, that continue to rule the roost.

Are private sector companies better than government companies , or are government companies better than private sector companies in the power generation sector? This is still an open question. A combination of private and public sectors in power generation ensured that India had adequate power to back India up.

How do power plants generate Power?

Few sources among the sources of generation are Coal, Gas, Solar Energy, Hydro Energy & Nuclear Energy, etc.

Out of the total installed capacity, the share of Thermal Power Plants is 62% in India, with 53.6% and 1.7% and 6.7%, and 0.1% by Coal-based, Lignite-based, Gas-based, and Oil-based, respectively.

Hydroelectric and Renewable Energy Source Power Plants 36.2% Renewable Energy is a sustainable and pollution-free source of power generation. Solar, which is a renewable power source, is becoming popular in the Power Sector where the government is heavily investing in Solar fields across the country.

Nuclear power plants constitute less than 1.8% of India's total installed base. It is the second-largest source of low-carbon power after hydropower.

Is solar becoming the new dawn of power generation in India?

With most of the parts of India having the Summer season, Solar energy has great potential in Power Generation. Solar, also being the cleanest form of energy, can be sustained for the future.

In the past 5 years, Solar Power capacity increased by over 11 times from 2.6 GW to 28.18 GW in March 2019.

Will Solar be the next golden period in Power Generation? Keep in mind at all times, Clean Oil equals a healthy Machine.

Pollution is a major barrier to the sustainable development of power generation. Dealing with the mission of greenhouse gases and waste disposal is are important issue today.

Moving away from coal, etc, the cleaner power generations, such as wind or solar, will only solve half the problems. 3R, i.e, Recycle, Reduce, and Reuse, are also applicable in Operation and Maintenance works. The pollution will be less, and also the power plant operation and maintenance costs will be lower.

Oil cleaning and re-use of lubricants is the norm as stipulated in the ISO standard, and increasingly it is a necessity in a power plant. Once you strain the oil out of frying oils and the like, you can recycle it quite easily for a couple of years before it really starts to become so dirty that it does more harm than good to the environment.

Let's recycle the oil through proper and timely filtration and save our natural resources. At Minimac, we analyse and consider all your maintenance requirements and offer you the best plan. We believe in Discern, Design , and Deliver.
